We left ‘U Residence’ – Krabi after breakfast (“you like fried egg or milk egg”??) And were bundled into hostage type truck, blacked out windows bags in open boot with the company of surprised Germans who thought they had a private taxi.
Arrived at ferry port and were somehow convinced to part with money for additional boats (400baht again) then followed the herd of other confused foreigners and found ourselves on the correct boat…to Ko Jum! About an hour of travelling later we arrived, after being collected by longboat on a beautiful tropical island, crystal water and soft sand, smell of incense and gentle music.
Check into the beautiful three star Ko Jum resort for a few nights , Had lunch of pad Thai and then were shown to our room, a fabulous wooden bungalow on stilts with view of the sea.
Welcome drink and speech by friendly host , this is when we were told not to leave our shoes outside our hut ” as dog will steal them!” Admired view for quite a while, then had obligatory afternoon nap (these are becoming frequent). Then arrived a massive tropical storm, torrential rain and thunder that you could feel it was so loud. Lasted couple of hours then had dinner, tempura prawns, rice and just regular barracuda. Amazing sunset. Relaxed carefree chilled atmosphere promptly destroyed when found cockroach in the bed.
The next few days were mainly spent in the sea snorkeling or on the beach
One evening we even walked along the beach about 100 yards to the next resort , ‘Ting Ray’ and had cocktails and barracuda again , shrimp fried rice, very hot green curry
Walked the long journey back
Found ice cream. Whoever knew you could get a tiramisu cornetto!?
Sat on Beach listening to chill out tunes.
Experienced an in house Thai massage courtesy of Ko Jum Resort; overlooking the sea listening to the waves, every bone and muscle pummeled.
Ate on the beach at the ‘star view bar’ , cocktails, and selected our own fish from a small boat filled with ice.
Shrimp (huge prawns to you and I) barracuda , squid and baked potato all cooked on BBQ.
Final day; Woken up by the resorts ‘lost’ dog barking and looking for shoes outside our room. had a Power cut.
Saw flying lizard and a furry spider.
Sitting on balcony overlooking sea Waiting to catch long tail boat to connecting ferry taking us to Koh Lanta
